How's Your Summer?
This blogsite supports the Voluntary Simplicity Circle that meets October through June, the 2nd Thursday of each of those months, and we are on summer hiatus. But let's keep in touch! What are you working on, simplicity wise? Any news to share? Use the comment button below to say hi!

Hi everyone! I am having a rather crazy (but good) summer. Kyle proposed to me on June 5th! So now we are planning a wedding. And it has been quite an adventure so far trying to integrate my voluntary simplicity values with wedding planning. There have been some helpful resources that I have found and I am going to put together a post with some details.
I am still working on my dissertation proposal (focused on individuals who voluntarily choose to reduce their consumption). I have decided to do both an online survey and in-person interviews, which I am in the process of developing. I am going to go to a mini-conference in Boston at the end of this month called "Contested Terrain of Consumption Studies" which I am very excited about.
I also went home to Michigan for 10 days at the beginning of July and had a wonderful time with my family and reconnecting with my roots.
The down side of all this activity and travel is that I have not had much time to participate in activities in NYC (I haven't gone to any ID Project meetings in a while).
That's the update so far with me. I can't wait to hear what everyone else has been up to!
