Topic for this month's circle

I just sent out this email to the group - you can respond back to me via email or comments on the blog! thanks! Kirsten

Gloria left a message for me this morning about the topic for VS circle next week. I was thinking about focusing on something related to Earth Day since it is coming up. I am not sure what way to go:

the debate between green technology solutions vs. making lifestyle changes to solve environmental problems (see dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/04/02/the-technology-gap-in-the-climate-debate/ via no impact man's post

our relationship to the earth (emotional, personal, or ethical - stewardship responsibility)

or something more hands-on like urban gardening, green markets, composting, and being green in NYC

I would love to do something on socially responsible investing at some point (probably not this month) but I know nothing about it. But let me know if this is something you would interested in talking about in May or June and we could start learning about it and pulling resources together.

What do you all think? any ideas?

Good day, As you can see I waited to the last minute to contact & discuss this month's topic. Apologies, my bad.

I love the idea of focussing on Earth Day & our environment. Personally, I have been reviewing this week the Interdependence Project's "Suggested Guidelines for Month-Long Low Impact Practice" & their "alternative to Plastic Bags" post. Would be willing to come in & talk about their ideas next week, and any others I can track in the meantime. This may not be precisely on point relative to the cites Kirsten mentioned in the blog, but they're a start......
What do you think? Later, Gloria

Our own take on Simplicity Earth Day sounds good to me or being green in NYC, which is really more of a challenge than people think.

In terms of next month, I know a little about socially responsible investing and can provide resources, but I don't actively engage in sri activities. Would love it if we can find someone who does, to be there.

Sounds great - let's focus on being green in NYC. We can all try to bring some ideas and resources. I have been participating in the Integral Activism initiative at Interdependence Project, so I can also talk a little about that. ~Kirsten

Hello again. I was able to participate in the NYC Dept of Sanitation's Recycling & Composting Drive this past weekend. It was an interesting experience & picked up some information. See you on Thursday.
